Haiku for Impact

"Haiku for Impact" is a participatory creative project,
a playful challenge with a serious vision,
promoting Social Impact Organisations around the world,
starting from an unexpected medium,
Poetry.

Why?

Despite the growth of the social impact movement around the world, many people are still not aware of how much Charities and Social Enterprises do to tackle problems and support people, communities and the planet. At the same time, many Social Impact Organisations find it difficult to speak up and have enough opportunities to show their impact due to a lack of resources, information noise, and lack of knowledge.Like other art forms, Poetry has been always used to understand society's feelings, beauty, struggles and beliefs.
Anyone through Poems can play an important role to provide a voice for social change, no matter the time, place or status.
Haiku for Impact is a pilot campaign that wants to help social impact organisations connect with more conscious citizens, together as a movement, through social media channels, using poetry as a spark for inspiration, curiosity and exploration.Haiku for impact is also a Themed Creative Writing Weekly Space for anyone who needs a little time to think about impact in their own business and life using words to converge, diverge or emerge.

The Challenge

Through imagination, evocative language, associations of ideas, and metaphors, Poetry can help Social Entrepreneurs to think in systems, summarise concepts, build awareness and make new patterns of change emerge. If a Social Entrepreneur, writing poetry, can show and inspire action, what if One Thousand Social Entrepreneurs are doing it together?Haiku for Impact positively invites and challenges Social Entrepreneurs writing an Haiku about their Impact and inspire anyone to be actor of change.

Is This You

The Haiku for impact challenge is not for everybody:You are a Social Entrepreneur, a Founder or Director of a Social Impact Organisation, Tech for Good Company, Ethical Business, Cooperative or Charity. You are open to Challenges, that help you explore possibilities, rediscover concepts, build new narratives, use unconventional solutions and find unique angles for you, your business and your teams. You are not afraid to be surprised, see what emerges from the subconscious, explore new powerful ways to communicate and connect with Social Impact Entrepreneurs around you.Brief forms of communication challenge you, but you know that it is a vital skill to have for your daily life and your Company.

What's in it for you

Haiku?

Haiku are a short, unrhymed, traditional form of poetry, that originated in Japan.
Composed of Seventeen Syllables on Three Units/Lines, they follow the 5/7/5 syllables division rule.
Despite Haiku being one of the simplest forms to write poems other than free verse, its conciseness ensures that writing a truly masterful haiku is never an easy job. Writing haiku is a solid exercise of condensing complex concepts within a brief form while including as much meaning as possible.Originally, Haiku's themes focused on nature. Since the 19th Century, the use of Haiku expanded to many more topics.
The topic of the Haiku in this project is Impact.
